Border Guards Rescued 54 Caspian Seals

In April and October 2022, the border services of the National Security Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation carried out joint operational and preventive measures (JOPM) aimed at curbing poaching activities and preserving biological diversity in the Caspian Sea.

According to the results of JOPM, the border guards rescued 54 Caspian seals, 946 fish of sturgeon species, 5321 fish of others species  from poaching nets and released them into their natural habitat, detained 153 offenders, seized about 400 km of nets and more than 17 thousand hook tackle.
