The Kazakhstani expedition

On May 25-30, researchers of the Institute of Hydrobiology and Ecology were exploring the coast of the Caspian Sea, from the northwestern tip of the Tub-Karagan Cape to the village of Kyzylozen ((55 km), as well as the sea shore in Aktau. The expedition found 184 dead Caspian seals of different sizes and sexes. The study shows that these animals have been beached at different times – over the past few months. Fishing nets with mesh of 40 to 110 mm were also found on the sea coast. All materials were submitted for laboratory analysis.
