220 Dead Caspian Seals Found in Kazakhstan
At a briefing by the Central Communications Service under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan presented new data on the number of dead Caspian seals found in the Kazakhstani part of the Caspian Sea in April-June 2022.
“Since the beginning of this year, the total number dead of seals found near the Karazhanbas Oil Field and in the areas of the southwestern tip of the Tyub-Karagan Peninsula has amounted to 220 individuals. The animals were stranded by storm winds from the Northern and Middle Caspian. At the same time, the Fisheries Committee involved scientific organizations, institutions, the Institute of Hydrobiology and Ecology, the Research and Production Center for Microbiology and Virology, the Kazakhstan Agency of Applied Ecology, as well as government bodies: the Department of Ecology of the Mangystau Region, territorial divisions of the Committee for Veterinary Control and Supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture,” said Minister of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan Serikkali Brekeshev at a briefing of the Central Communications Service under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
