A mud volcano eruption in the Caspian
On July 04, 2021, the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) said that no accidents had occurred on its offshore platforms in the Caspian Sea. Thus, SOCAR commented the video of the explosion in the Caspian Sea, which had been previously shared in social networks and some media in Azerbaijan. Eyewitnesses assumed that the explosion occurred on aт offshore platform.
‘There have been no accidents on our offshore platforms. They continue to work as usual,’ Ibragim Akhmedov, Deputy Head of the SOCAR Event Management and Public Relations Department, told a TASS correspondent.
On July, 05, a mud volcano eruption on Dashly Island was observed by a plane of the Ministry of Emergency Situation the Azerbaijan Republic. ‘Currently, there is a small flame in the crater of the mud volcano. The volcano does not pose a threat to the offshore oil and gas infrastructure and other facilities, as well as to human life,’ the Minister of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Azerbaijan said.
