The Caspian will become cleaner
Russia and Kazakhstan will work together to preserve the ecosystem of the Ural River, which flows into the Caspian Sea. On October 03, 2016, an intergovernmental agreement on cooperation in this field was signed during the working visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to Astana (Kazakhstan).
The agreement includes international activities to reduce the negative impact on the Ural ecosystem in emergency situations, as well as developing of a unified Kazakhstan network of protected areas in the river basin. These measures will help to intensify cooperation between the two countries in order to reduce the river discharge of pollutants, to conduct bottom cleaning works and environmental monitoring of the Ural status.
